What should you look for in a feather comforter?

The coldest season of the year is coming and we are starting to change our home decor to warmer, comfier textiles. It’s time for blankets, winter sheets and of course, one of the most comfortable and easy-to-use product, the down quilt.

If you don’t have one yet but are thinking in buying one, here are some important details you should know in order to choose the perfect comforter for your bed. You should look for: a quality duvet, high fill power, cotton outer fabric and an inner wall.

A Quality Down

The duvet is a three-dimensional light and soft flake which is formed by several filaments attached to a small core. Those filaments are intertwined creating a multitude of air chambers. The larger the flake, the more filaments it has and the better the isolation.
What does Fill Power mean?

The Fill Power or the filling capacity is the only safe way to know the quality of the duvet. The volume of the air which can be absorbed by the duvet is directly related to its insulating capacity. If the duvet has high fill power, it will be able to bear a larger amount of air and consequently it will have a better insulation. The bigger the cuin number, the larger the duvet flakes and its filaments. The filling power scale values goes from 500 to 800. Duvets with 800 cuins or more are a superior quality product.
A duvet with a high fill power will need less grammage than others of lesser quality, for the same degree of same insulation,

What is the Inner wall?

The geometric stitching of the quilt creates an inner wall, allowing for a better distribution of the filling, thus avoiding displacements of the filling and the creation of those cold zones that normally appear in the seams.
100% cotton fabric

To create natural fillings, the fabrics used are of especially of high density, avoiding the output from the duvet to the outside. The different fabrics are chosen because of their high transpiration, and the SanProcare® finish applied to the fabric creates more resistance and a softer appearance, while maintaining an excellent absorption capacity and a fast evaporation of the moisture.
