How Manterol Group create their textile designs and products

Ever since the founder and honorary chairman Mr. Enrique Terol Penades launched the project in 1948, the aim of Manterol Group has always been to offer quality and forefront products. This goal is reached with hard work and effort, allowing the company to become one of the world’s leading home decor companies.

One of the most important tech innovations developed by the company are the Jacquard looms, the first programmable looms in history, capable of creating more complex patterns such as brocade, damask and matelassé. Advances like these are the secret to Manterol Group’s success, as it becomes one of the most influential international companies in the industry. At first the process was controlled by a ‘chain of cards’ – a number of punched cards – laced together into a continuous sequence. Multiple rows of holes were punched on each card, depending on the pattern, creating a single row of the design.

Now, the labour of this type of looms is easier and automated, and they are centrepiece of our work. Using them we manufacture blankets or quilts, as can be seen in the video. The Jacquard loom operates with electronic signs that trigger electromagnets, and turn the movement of the piece containing the threads on or off, making the process three times as fast as the previous machines.

In the video, Manterol Group opens its factory doors to reveal the real action behind their most important process, the creation of their pieces. Behind every single product, there is brilliant example of hard work, always aiming to offer the best quality to the clients.
